About a month after towing all my shit to my new home in Delaware I stumbled on a giant puddle of engine coolant on the ground beneath my truck. My 2000 Ford F150 had a coolant leak which I believed was coming from the heater core that had been professionally replaced in the winter. Mistakenly drove it home 15 miles on the hottest day of the year. I attempted to drive the truck to the shop but that was a no go.  Had it towed to the mechanic whom diagnosed the leak and replaced the intake manifold. However then discovered the head gasket was leaking. My decision was not to fix the head gasket right away and find a newer truck. It was time for a new kayak hauler.

Family is there when it counts!

Weeks went by and thanks to my Mom and Dad for all of the help over that time. My Mom for letting me borrow her car to drive here and I to work and my dad for picking her up from work and doing the searches for F150’s on the internet. These are the benefits of living near family which I would not have been able to rely on if not moving from New Jersey. A month and a half went by and it was time. The deal was done and driving home in my brand new truck that I will enjoy and pay for over for the next 6 years. Yes 6 years. Its a very long time.

2016 Ford F150

Within a week of ownership I waxed the entire exterior of the truck including the inside of doors and anywhere there was paint with class wax. Never thought id have to completely detail a new truck but in a way it is like a new pair of boots. A fresh coat of polish will make them last much longer than the factory finish.

The truck needed to be ready for the CBKA tournament in September. Planning on setting up the new truck alike the old it needed a cap. Trick Trucks in Millsboro Delaware responded to my build on ARE truck accessories website promptly. A custom cap was ordered with the recessed window option I wanted in the same matching paint color. The Thule rack with Malone saddles was then disassembled off the 2000 ford F150 and installed perfectly as I had previously done years ago. Using the same hardware and all.  A few days later the sprayed on bed liner was completed by LineX.I do miss my old truck some times. The way it rode was a real truck. But now I’m in luxury along with my luxurious Jackson Kayak! Wish I was rich! hahaha!
